My first blog post! Oh, how exciting. By now I am sure you all have clicked and scrolled through my entire blog before diving into this first post, so I will spare everyone my personal introduction for the second time. However, one thing that is not mentioned anywhere until now is why exactly this site does exist.

For the summer of 2019, I have decided to continue to live in Boone and further pursue my major, Communication Studies, at Appalachian State University. When I was registering for classes, Social Media Strategies stood out to me because of my familiarity and interest within this area. I chose to enroll in the course because of my previous experiences with social media platforms have been very entertaining, and saw it as a fun way to learn over the summer.

I have compiled a list of five questions and five goals I hope to answer and fulfill over the next five weeks enrolled in this course.

Goals:

  1. Learn the different etiquettes for each social media platform.

  2. Discover my own personal brand and aesthetic, and apply it across all platforms.

  3. Learn professional networking skills that can be utilized further after this course.

  4. Learn to correctly identify audiences and the branding that comes with it.

  5. Analyze the influence social media has on business growth, and how to apply it successfully.

Questions:

  1. What are both the positive and negative effects of social media, and is its popularity as a platform growing or decreasing?

  2. How can I brand myself in a way others with similar brands do not?

  3. How can I monetize on social media?

  4. How will I apply the strategies learned to both my personal and professional lives?

  5. How do I build my social media platform to be successful from the start?

Thank you for reading my very FIRST post! Until next time...
